Poetry Playlist #2

Hi Everyone,
wishing you many happy moments in November as it almost over. This week Poetry Playlist, I have yasmeen from Safia Elhillo which is a very smart poem. It has 3 column, meaning: you can read it in three ways. I listen to it over and over, and still fascinated by its word connections. I also have Changeling and Notes on Staying by Hieu Minh Nguyen, my recent favourite poet. He wrote everything I need to understand a strange word called 'family'. Hha! :D

Also, this Saturday I came to my friend's wedding. Wedding always gives me a weird feeling of distant, no matter how close my memories are with the bride/groom. And to make an antidote for that, I reminded myself with Derek Walcott's Love After Love until Tracy McMillan's TED Talk: the person you really need to marry is yourself. But rather, I revisited Tonya Ingram's Until the Stars Collapse. This poem is short and special for my vocabulary, yet it felt close and intimate. P.S: The link itself is a selection mix of six special poems by The New York Times about Being Women: Poetry and Imagery, and as for now I still absorbing Jennifer Chang and Tonya's poems. I recommend you to read all of it since it's a delight vacation for a rainy season.

Here the links. Enjoy and have a nice day! <3

"you owe it to yourself to quit being the apology. to hold your hand and sing your favorite song. to love another and see how far that will go. to love yourself and forget where you were headed in the first place."

- Until the Stars Collapse, by Tonya Ingram

End of November. Remember to put your blanket on.
